In response to members’ feedback, on July 1st Eastsound Water announced an “Base Rate Appeal Process”. In 2019 Eastsound Water adopted a new rate structure the linked members’ base rate portion of their service fees to their 2018 water use. The process was specifically develop to provide some 2019 base rate relief to members who had high water use in 2018 due to catastrophic leaks. To date several dozen appeals have been approved and over $2500 has been credited to members’ accounts. The deadline for appeals is Sept 30. The appeal process was developed exclusively for this first transition year of the new rate structure, and will not be offered in 2020.
