Eastsound Water announces boil water notice ends for affected Doe Bay Water Users customers
As of this morning, May 20, 2024 at 10:30 am, the Boil Notice has been lifted.
Below is a message that was sent to the DBWUA members earlier today:
We have received a perfect test result from our lab this morning, and in coordination with the Department of Health, we are confident that your water is as safe as ever. You may go back to your regular water usage.
So what happened?
Well, there was a contractor working in the roadway in an area that included the northern branch of the Doe Bay water distribution line. While they were digging, they inadvertently cracked a pipe in the process. This is a very common event; in fact, every contractor who works in the County right-of-way has done this on occasion. It is a part of the business and Eastsound Water responds to these events across all four systems we manage. In fact, Eastsound Water did a similar Boil Notice on a portion of Buck Mt this winter and a section of Raccoon Point a few years back. In all cases, we are required to send out notice to effected users.
Last, I want to assure you that this was a routine interruption, it was handled very quickly, and your safety has been our top priority the entire time. I also want to assure that this was not the product of any failing or aging parts of the system. In fact, the Doe Bay system is in very good shape, and we at Eastsound Water are very pleased to be working on this system, with your very competent Board, and for you as water users and customers.
Thank you for your time and enjoy this nice weather.
Dan Burke
