2023 Rate Schedule
Fair warning, our billing rates are a bit complicated, but you can do it. We believe in you!
Our water bills are comprised of both a Base Rate, and a Consumption Rate. The cost of each of these are added together make the total amount of your monthly bill.
- Base Rate: Your monthly base rate is calculated by multiplying $16 per 1,000 gallons to your prior year’s average monthly water usage, or $45 per month, whichever is greater
- Consumption Rate: Our 2023 consumption rate is $8 per 1,000 gallons
There are other billing rates to consider in certain circomstances:
- New Owners: New property owners will be charged $24 per 1,000 gallons used (or 2.4 cents per gallon) while they generate water usage history. Once an account has a complete calendar year of water usage history, the account will be charged a base rate plus their current consumption rate.
- New Tenants: New tenants are not considered new owners.
- Inactive Accounts: Inactive accounts will be charged the minimum base rate of $45 per month.
- Annual Overuse Fee: Once a year Eastsound Water will invoice a surcharge to any member who uses over 100,000 gal/Impact Unit. The 2023 overuse rate is calculated at $24 per 1,000 gallons above the allotted amount. See our Reasonable Water Use Threshold Policy for details on Capital Expansion Surcharges.
- Multi-Unit Billing Fee: Direct billing of multi-unit customers is $8 per bill.
- Paper Billing Fee: Paper billing fees are set by the Board at $5 per bill (started April, 2021). Sign up for paperless billing to avoid this charge.
Billing Schedule
- Meters are read on the 1st of the month.
- Bills are sent by the 10th of the month.
- Auto Pay (bank draft): Bills are drafted no sooner than the 24th of the month.
- Payments are due by the last day of the month.
New Membership Fees
One Impact Unit (IU): $14,500
Guest House Fee (0.5 IU): $7,250
Single Family Home requires: 1.0 Impact Units
Commercial Account minimum: 1.75 Impact Units
